How to Judge a Set With Many Ornaments From Its Listing
Count the Pieces First
A set with many pieces fills a large tree, while a set with fewer pieces suits a small tree. Work out which branches you want to cover before you choose. A larger set also gives you pieces for a mantel.
Look at the Sizes in the Set
A set with 3 sizes gives a tree depth, while a set with 1 size gives a neat look. Read the sizes in the listing and picture them on a branch. Pick the size mix that fits your tree.
Check the Finishes in the Box
Glossy, glitter, matte and crackle finishes each catch light in a different way. A set with many finishes looks layered, while a set with one finish looks clear. Pick the finish mix that fits the style of your room.
Look for Hanging Parts and Boxes
A pre-tied string, a loop, a rope or a clasp each hangs in a different way. A gift box or a storage box helps you keep the set in one place after the season. Count the included parts in the listing before you hang the set.
Mix Colors for a Full Tree
Blue, silver, white, gold, red and burgundy each give a tree a different mood. Pair a bright color with a velvet finish for balance. Keep one color as the main theme so the tree stays clear.
