How to Judge an Ornament Set From Its Listing
Look at the Designs First
A set with many patterns gives a tree a varied look, while a set with one shape gives a clear theme. Check the prints, cutouts and embroidery in the listing. Pick the design range that fits the style of your room.
Count the Pieces in the Set
A large set fills a tall tree, while a small set suits a small tree or a mantel. Count the branches you plan to cover before you choose. A larger set also gives you spares for wreaths and garlands.
Check the Size Against Your Tree
A small ornament suits a mini tree, while a large ornament stands out on a full tree. Check the size in the listing and picture it on a branch. A size that is too large can hide nearby ornaments.
Picture the Hanging Part
A string, loop, cord, rope or pre-drilled hole each hangs in a different way. Picture how you will loop each piece onto a branch. A part that is already tied or attached makes the job quicker.
Mix Materials for a Full Look
Wood, metal, fabric, felt and clear plastic each add a different texture to a tree. Pair a gold metal star with a soft felt ball for contrast. Keep one material as the main theme so the tree still looks calm.
