How to Judge a Large Ornament Set From Its Listing
Count the Pieces First
A set with many pieces fills a large tree, while a set with fewer pieces suits a small tree or a mantel. Think about the branches you want to cover before you choose. A larger set also gives you pieces for wreaths and garlands.
Look at the Shapes in the Box
Balls, snowflakes, icicles, trees and boots each add a different outline to a tree. A set with many shapes looks layered, while a set with one shape looks clear. Pick the shape mix that fits the style of your room.
Check the Sizes Listed
A set with many sizes gives a tree depth, while a set with one size gives a neat look. Look for the size range in the listing before you choose. A size range that is listed helps you picture the set on your tree.
Look for Hooks, Strings and Boxes
A pre-tied string, a loop, a cap or a bow makes hanging quicker. A gift box or a storage box helps you keep the set together after the season. Check the included parts in the listing before you start.
Mix Colors for a Full Tree
Blue, silver, white, gold, red and green each give a tree a different mood. Pair a bright color with a matte finish for balance. Keep one color as the main theme so the display stays clear.
